Biography
Grant Battersby is primarily a contemporary theatre performer who also takes an interest in traditional theatrical plays. He was born in Sheffield before moving to Manchester in 2011 to take a foundation degree in Contemporary Theatre Practice at the Arden School of Theatre, then topping up with a degree in Theatre and Performance in 2017 and a MA in Performance Practice in 2019.
Simulation and recorded media are the essence of his performances and how they interact with the live. To create a solo show but with multiple characters brought to life with the use of pre-recorded material; simulating other cast members and exploring the way in which a relation can develop between a live performer and digital counterparts.

A familiar setting but with an unfamiliar quality, Grant wants to take you through his thought process on human nature. He’s not an expert, he’s just talking, but the same mistakes are being made and he wants to give his two cents as history is repeating itself. Together with his faulty A.I friend and financial contributions from a problematic sponsor, Grant wants to give advice from one average person to another, reminding us that we are the same and highlighting the problems we ignore. He’s not special, he’s just a person. With the use of digital technology and its relationship to the live performer, he wants to let you know that we must stop, before it’s too late.
